1 Day • Cycle Tour San Kham Paeng

Guaranteed departures every Monday, Wednesday, Saturday with a minimum group of 2 adults.

Just a short hop east of Chiang Mai, we head away from the tourist trail and into fertile valleys that offer inspiring views and mountainous horizons not seen from the city. Starting in Chiang Mai, we drive east to start our bicycle exploration of the Sankampaeng and the beautiful, peaceful Lanna countryside.

This one day ride takes us out into the Northern Thai countryside and into places where the water buffalo and ox are the tools of choice to plow the fields and transport the harvest. We see that family, friends and the Buddhist faith are what is important to Thai people and that a good crop and healthy lifestyle are what puts a broad smile on people’s faces.

We visit the Sankampaeng markets where the fresh produce is sold daily and pass by temples that represent the centre of the community and the soul of the people. We ride through open plains and take short cuts through lush green rice paddies as we head towards the forests and mountains that surround this area.

We ride on quiet country roads at the base of a mountain range that bring us to the Sankampaneng Hot Springs where we can have a swim in the warm, natural mineral springs.

Having enjoyed a delicious Thai lunch at a local restaurant with a menu tasty noodle soups and other local foods combined with lots of stops to sample fruits in season means you will not run out of energy. This is a real original Thai experience that you won’t find on other itineraries. An enjoyable and educational ride that finishes with a some where to soothe those muscles and to leave you in no doubt that you certainly are on holidays!
