Sanhsia Tsu
Shih Temple
Tsu Shih Temple is one of the world's finest examples of current
Chinese temple art. Built in 1769. The temple was in ruins by
the end of World War II. The restoration project. Which has taken
over 40 years. is still incomplete.
Sanhsia Old Street
Sanhsia Old Street refers to the south section of Min-Chuan Street
in Taipei County. Its length is about two hundred meters, and
its architecture dates back to the early days when the Republic
of China was newly established. Walking along Sanhsia Old Street
is like walking into a time tunnel; the arched red brick hallways,
the traditional architecture, the beams, columns, ancient wooden
plaques, the squat maidens walls and the figure carvings upon
the buildings are all very unique. Walking along this ancient
street brings a feeling of nostalgia for the good old days, and
makes visitors want to linger..
Yingko's Pottery
A short trip to the lush countryside southwest of Taipei brings
you to Yingko where hand-painted replicas of elegant Ming (1368-1644)
and Ching (1644-1911) vases are produced. The small town is Taiwan's
pottery center and its narrow streets are lined with shops selling
everything from earthenware tea sets to delicate statues.
