| Canal Tour & Wat Arun | |

Rivers and canals referred to maenam and khlong in Thai have always been vital forms of communication. When the capital of Thailand was moved to Bangkok in 1782 (the beginning of the Rattanakosin period), the capital was laced with canals, so Bangkok was sometimes called the "Venice of the East" by European visitors. Take an early morning motor launch trip along the bustling Chaophaya river and quiet Klong (canals), see the rural life at river bank, passing picturesque scenes of Thai river life and pass by Wat Arun. Its highlight is the 79-metre-high pagoda or "Phra Prang". Despite its name, "Temple of the Dawn" is at its name, "Temple of the Dawn" is at its most attractive when viewed at sunset from the Bangkok side of the river. |
