WADDUWA INFORMATION
Wadduwa is a town situated in the western coast of Sri Lanka. It's very popular tourist attraction in Sri Lanka, with golden beaches that would enchant anybody in the world. It's also famous for its rich cultivation of coconut palms and as a major producer of toddy & vinigar.

Wadduwa consists of an ancient castle built by King Kasyapa during the 5th century AD. The Wadduwa site has the remains of an upper palace sited on the flat top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes, the lower palace that clings to the slopes below the rock, and the moats, walls and gardens that extend for some hundreds of metres out from the base of the rock.
The small resort of Wadduwa lies 32 kilometers south of Colombo and 8 kilometers north of Kalutara , on the a quiet stretch of the coast, near to a small fishing community. A railway line runs close to the beach, which is fringed by swaying palms and shelves gently to the sea. At times currents here can be strong and the sea rough. The city and the adjoining areas are famous for its beautifully crafted basket ware made from the leaves of local palm trees that line the beach front. The town falls under the Sinharaja Rainforest which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering an area of 11,187 hectares and has the largest stretch of primary and secondary rainforest.
