When paying by credit card or with traveler's checks, government regulations require us to convert all US$ rates in to Philippine pesos, at the prevailing hotel exchange rate on the day of departure.

 

CLIMATE

The island's weather is tropical with a dry season running from November to May and scattered rain showers from June to October. The mean annual temperature is 27.2 C (83F). January is the coolest month with an average temperature of 25.5C (81F) and May the hottest at 29C (88F). During the months of December through March and the Amihan trade winds blow an average of 15-20 knots making windsurfing and sailing a highlight at Amanpulo.

The Philippines is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.

 

LANGUAGE

Filipino (Tagalog) is the official language. English is used for business and legal transactions and is spoken almost everywhere.

 

IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS

Most passport holders are allowed entry to the Philippines without a visa for a visit of up to 21 days, provided they have valid tickets for their return or onward journey. Travelers should check with the Philippine embassy or consulate in their area for more information. Passports should be valid for at least six months.

 

TRANSFERS BETWEEN AMANPULO AND MANILA

Transfers to Amanpulo's private, 1.2-kilometer airstrip on Pamalican Island is by 19-seat, twin engine, turbo-prop aircraft. in Manila, guests are met at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by our Airport Representative and taken by complimentary car transfer to the Amanpulo Lounge at a private hangar nearby. At the lounge, refreshments and snacks are served. A selection of books, newspapers, magazines and games are available, along with luggage storage and shower facilities. Time permitting, a city tour and lunch can organized. Guests are requested to check in at the Amanpulo Lounge a minimum of 45 minutes prior to departure and should allow at least 90 minutes between the arrival of their international flight and departure of the flight to Amanpulo.

Should guests prefer to charter a private plane, Amanpulo can provide a list of charter companies that fly to Amanpulo and assist guests with the booking.

 

LUGGAGE

Strictly enforced luggage allowance applicable to all scheduled flights is 20 kg (44 lbs) per person. Children age 2-6 are permitted 10 kg. (22 lbs) and infants must share luggage allowance of parents. Luggage storage facilties are available at the Amanpulo Lounge. Should guests insist on bringing excess luggage, the aviation company retains the right to send the luggage on the next available plane and charge according to their policy for excess luggage (Rates to be advised).

* Excess of over 20 kg (44 lbs) is not accepted on the plane.
* Guests may request to book extra space in advance for excess luggage which will be charged according to the above excess luggage policy.

 

RESORT DESCRIPTION

Amanpulo is located on the private island of Pamalican. The island is 2.4 km (1.5 miles) long and 500 meters (545 yards) wide and is surrounded by a number of small islands that make up the Quiniluban group of Cuyo Islands in the Sulu Sea.

The island is surrounded by 5.5 km (3.4 miles) of white sand beach and coral reefs located 50-300 meters (327 yards) from the shore. The turquoise sea is crystal clear and excellent for swimming snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing and sailing. Amanpulo is a luxurious retreat for those who are looking for the ultimate beach vacation in complete tranquility.

The light-filled Clubhouse, situated in the center of the resort, overlooks the 30 m swimming pool and encompasses the Restaurant, the lobby Bar and Terrace, the library, the Boutique and Galleries. Views from the Restaurant Terrace extend across the Sulu Sea and surrounding islands. A garden walkway leads down from the pool to the Beach Club where guests can lounge on one of the sand-white mattresses on the deck and enjoy lunch, snacks or cocktails in a casual beachfront setting. an array of watersports are available at hte adjacent Beach Hut and scuba diving can be arranged at the Dive Shop locatd 5 minutes by golf cart from the Clubhouse. The Windsurf Hut is located on the northeastern side of Pamalican, just past the Clubhouse. Beside it is the Lagoon Retreat where windsurfers and swimmers alike can shower, relax in hammock or on a sun bed and enjoy a picnic lunch. Two synthetic-grass, floot-lit tennis courts are located adjacent to the Clubhouse. For children, there is a Playground and a Children's Lounge with books, toys, games and arts and crafts materials.
