Lying in the heart of the Visayas, Bohol is home to
the exotic Chocolate Hills, pristine beaches, hidden coves, friendly
people and fantastic divesites. The island is ideal for all types of
divers with its gentle slopes, magnificent walls, wide variety of marine
creatures and limitless photographic possibil ities.
CABILAO ISLAND This eight-square-kilometer island jutting
out into the waters of the Cebu Strait and the Bohol Sea is the convergence
point of hammerhead sharks, tunas, dolphins, groupers and mackerel
that abound around the island.
PANGLAO ISLAND This site is located on the southwestern tip
of Bohol directly opposite Tagbilaran City. The northern and western
sections of this reef are noteworthy, with a reef platform that is
relatively narrow and shallow (4.5 to 6 meters). The reef has an edge
terminating in perpendicular submarine cliffs which plunge down to
depths of 30 to 48 meters. The reef is thickly covered with hard and
soft corals. Water is crystal clear with visibility of up to 30 meters.
BALICASAG ISLAND This low, flat island is approximately 30
hectares in size and situated four kilometers southwest of Duljo Point
off Panglao Reef. Surrounded by a sandy shell coraline beach, the
island is fringed by a narrow reef shelf 9 to 49.5 meters wide. The
tops of the submarine cliffs are covered with hard coral while lower
levels are covered with sponges and gorgonians. A thriving fish community
is found around the cliff face area. Jacks, barracudas and mackerels
also abound.
