Day 1: Arrival - Vientiane
On arrival at Wattay Airport or Friendship Bridge, you are met and transferred to our centraly hotel. After a short rest, we start visiting the major sights of the capital, including the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image . On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patouxai Monument which is well known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triomphe. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 2: Vientiane - Luang Nam Tha - Muang Sing
A short morning flight to Luang Namtha, a land of rugged mountains, beautiful forest and rich river plain, sharing the border with China and Myanmar. Today, Lung Namtha is populated by over twenty ethnic groups that make it the most ethnically diverse province in Laos. On arrival, we travel by roads to Muang Sing, stopping along the way at the Ikhor hill tribe village. Overnight in Muang Sinh. (B)
Day 3: Muang Sing - Trekking
After breakfast, we visit the Muong Sinh market where many ethnic minority people converge from the surrounding valleys and hillsides to sell their goods and buy provision. Heading out of the town, we take a short drive north, then start a half day trekking through the breathtaking mountain landscape to the Yao, Akkha and Lantern hill tribe villages. Overnight at Muong Sinh. (B)
Day 4: Muang Sinh - Luang Nam Tha - Oudomxay
Today is a long day travelling down through Luang Nam Tha to Oudomxay. The road conditions are very poor , but the spectacular landscape with a mixture of terraced fields and rustic villages, makes the hardship all worthwhile. On the way, we have some enjoyable visit to the Chiang Tung Stupa, the Akkha village at Ban Namleung, the Lao houei at Ban Namdeng and the Ikor village at Ban Lakkham Mai. Overnight at Oudomxay. (B)
Day 5: Oudomxay - Muong La - Muong Bountai
The local market also attracts a wide variety of ethnic minority groups including the Akkha, Taidam, Khmu and Hmong. They are all colorful and friendly. We visit this congregation before we set off on our journey along the Nam Phak River to Muong La, which is well know for the Pra Xack Kham Temple and the beautiful mountain scenery. Upon leaving this town, the roads begin to deteriorate; however you can make stop as you please, to stretch your legs and take pictures. Overnight in Muong Bountain. (B)
Day 6: Muong Bountai - Ban Houe Yo - Phongsaly
Heading out of the town, we continue venturing into the northern Laos, with the next stop being Phongsaly. En route, we will have the chance to see the bee breeding and the rice wine distillation at Ban Km 35 and the Ikhor minority people, originally called Akkha. On arrival in Phongsaly, we walk up 413 steps to the top of Phoufa Mountain, which will give us an incredible view of the surrounding area. Overnight in Phongsaly. (B)
Day 7 : Phongsaly - Hatsa - Muangkhoua
After breakfast, we travel by roads to Hatsa, then embark on a traditional boat cruising down on the Nam Ou River to Muang Khoua. The cruise is long, but the daily activities of local people on both banks of the river are all interesting. Overnight in Muang Khoua. (B,L)
Day 8 : Muangkhoua - Naongkhio - Luang Prabang
Today, we continue our cruise on the Nam Ou river through the beautiful landscape of northern Laos to Luang Prabang. Along the way, there are some stop opportunities at the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various sizes and Ban Xang Hai, where villagers make the potent local rice wine. Overnight in Luang Prabang .(B,L)
Day 9 : Luang Prabang
The tranquillity and charm of Luang Prabang with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. A full day guided tour takes us into the city's oldest temple of Wat Wisunalat and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents the classical architecture of Luang Prabang temple. Heading out of this sight, we continue seeing the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham. We then climb up to the top of Phousi Hill for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa and a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong river as well as Overnight in Luang Prabang. Day 10 : Luang Prabang - Vientiane
There is free time for your own exploration of the city and strolling around the shopping area. In the early afternoon, we board a flight back to the capital city. After checking into hotel, we transfer out of the town to see the Buddha Park, a blend of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by mystical monk on a parkland located by the Mekong River, and the impressive Friendship Bridge. A view of the spectacular sunset over the Mekong River is perfect way to finish the trip. Overnight in Vientiane. (B)
Day 11 : Vientian - Departure
After breakfast, we visit the Morning Market, and the weaving village of Ban Nong Bouathong ( if time permits). The tour ends after your transfer to Wattay Airport or Friendship Bridge for departure. (B)
