Inter Island Service  If you are travelling between the North and South Islands by ferry, you can drop off your vehicle in either Wellington (North Island) or Picton (South Island Ferry Terminal) and collect a new vehicle at the end of your ferry crossing. This will not only save you money by not having to take your car onto the ferry (a minimum of $NZ150.00), but also saves you from any problems associated with trying to make a booking for your vehicle on the ferry. This is particularly important in the peak travel season of October - March and especially during school and public holidays when vehicle space is very limited on the ferries. There are no such problems when you are travelling on the ferries without a vehicle. |
