Day 2 Sydney

Full Day Blue Mountains Tour
Departing the city, we arrive at our breakfast location, Featherdale Wildlife Park where here we enjoy a special environment free of other tourists – breakfast consists of fresh croissants, bread rolls, cheese, spreads, fresh fruits, juice tea/coffee. After breakfast we enjoy meeting Australian animals including kangaroos, emus, wombats, dingos and more…. without other tourists. We then depart Featherdale Park as it opens to regular visitors and travel to the Blue Mountains – we ascend Bells Line of Road and pause at Bilpin, citrus region of Sydney and this is a chance to purchase fresh fruit from the gardens. Leaving here we continue past Tomah Botanic Gardens and further up the mountains for a stop near Mt Wilson. Here we have a short nature walk where the native flora is described in an informative and interesting manner and we see wonderful Blue Mountains valley and wall views.

From this point we cross the mountains to Mt Victoria and turn east to travel to Govetts Leap for magnificent Valley and waterfall views followed by lunch at the beautiful Lillianfels Resort.

From our lunch location we drive to see the views of Megalong Valley from amazing Narrowneck Plateau – hear our guide demonstrate a “cooee call and echo”. We then travel along Cliff Drive where we stop for views of the 3 Sisters at a little used location (away from the crowds) and here our guide relates an Aboriginal Dreamtime story about the 3 Sisters. Travelling down the mountains we head into the national park to Euroka Clearing where guests will have one of the most memorable highlights of their day - kangaroos in their natural environment while enjoying a complimentary glass of champagne or fruit juice. We then depart the Mountains and drive to back to your city hotel.

Evening
Dinner at Summit Restaurant
Just a short walk from hotel to restaurant.

The Summit Restaurant, established in 1968, is one of the world's largest revolving restaurants, with an international reputation for excellence. Six high speed elevators take guests from the foyer to the restaurant. Situated on top of Australia Square, the Summit offers an unequalled 360 degree breathtaking view of Sydney, Darling Harbour and the suburbs. A full revolution of the restaurant takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. Recently fully refurbished the look is now very modern, the view still breathtaking!

The style of the cooking is "cuisine du marche", or cuisine of the marketplace, with an international flavour.

At the conclusion of the dinner make your own way back to the hotel or explore Sydney night life!

Day 3 Sydney

Breakfast at leisure at hotel…

Full day Hunter Valley Boutique Wineries Experience
Early morning departure from hotel, we then travel north over the Sydney Harbour Bridge via the Gore Hill Freeway to join the Pacific Highway and then the F3 Freeway. Crossing the Hawkesbury River, we leave the Freeway to travel on sealed roads through the Yengo National Park. Here we travel through contrasting rural farmland and Australian Natural Bush, mountains ranges and grazing land. Enroute we view several sections of the original convict built Old Great Northern Road. This road, built in the 1820’s, was considered to be one of the world’s great engineering feats of this time and is an exceptional example of English road building.

Stop to enjoy a delightful morning tea at Mulla Villa, a historic homestead. We then travel through Wollombi village established in the early 19th Century - a wonderful example of the small colonial rural townships of this era. Departing Wollombi, our route takes us over Mt View where we gain a panoramic perspective of the Hunter Valley wine areas.

The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest winemaking region. It boasts the country’s oldest winery and over eighty wineries and cellar doors with some of the latest winemaking and tasting facilities. All wineries visited today are boutique wineries – these are smaller, more personalised wineries and our hosts are often the owners or winemakers.

Arriving in the Valley, we travel to the first of our boutique wineries, where we enjoy our first samples of the Hunter’s premium wines. We then continue on to our lunch destination, the beautiful Hunter Resort where we have exclusive use of the restaurant and cafe. Our lunch becomes a highlight and focal point of the day.

Hosted by our Cellarmaster, we enjoy a 2 course Tasting Plate style Lunch, accompanied by a selection of 4 wines especially chosen to “marry” with our lunch. The Cellarmaster will discuss with you the various wines and explain their unique characteristics.

Following lunch, we will visit a further 2 boutique style winery, where we have the opportunity to sample the fine wines and perhaps purchase wines that are only available through the cellar door and cannot be purchased outside of the vineyards. We depart the Valley at approximately 3.30 - 4.00pm and return to Sydney along the Freeway to arrive back at your Sydney Hotel approximately 5.30 – 6.00pm.

Evening
Dinner at Café Sydney
Short leisurely walk from hotel to restaurant

Café Sydney captures the essence of Sydney from its amazing location on the rooftop of Customs House at Circular Quay with spectacular harbour views, delicious food, an outdoor terrace, cocktail lounge and a relaxed, contemporary interior.

Featuring a modern, classic menu with a focus on seafood and fresh seasonal produce, Cafe Sydney's kitchen makes use of a wood-fired grill, authentic wok and Indian tandoor oven.

After dinner enjoy the short walk back to the hotel where we have private use of Club Inter-Continental. Built to capture panoramic views across Sydney Harbour, Club InterContinental is the city’s only rooftop lounge with wrap around terrace. Inside, luxurious furnishings ensure a private retreat perfect for saying farewell to Sydney. Enjoy exclusive use of your private cognac and cigar bar.
