Langkawi is a group of 99 islands off the northwestern Malaysian coastline. Only three are developed and the rest are mostly covered in rainforests. These islands are home to many unique plants and animals that have sustained the island community for centuries.
Somewhere on or around Langkawi, depending upon the time of day, it’s possible to observe, a pod of Indo Pacific Humpback Dolphins, Brahminy Kites soaring in the sky, Oriental Pied Hornbills flying from tree to tree, rare Butterfly Lizards scurrying from their sandy burrows, Colugos gliding through the forest canopy, monkeys swinging through the trees or water cascading from waterfalls protruding from ancient rock formations.
These processes have been ongoing for millions of years. Visitors are encouraged to work with the local community to preserve the island’s unique environment.

While it's impossible to build a resort and not make some impact upon the environment, the management and staff of the Frangipani Langkawi Resort & Spa realise that our very existence is dependent upon the way in which we manage the natural assets with which Langkawi is blessed.
We are continually assessing our relationship with the environment and incorporating sustainable management practices to ensure that the very assets that guests come to enjoy remain as they found them for many generations to come. We have implemented a water treatment plant to recycle the resort's waste water.
This is used to water the tropical gardens. Energy efficient light globes have been utilised and attempts have been made to reduce our energy needs throughout the resort by using more sustainable building materials. Where possible, we have also incorporated solar energy. We have also adopted a policy of: "a small change to make a small change." While we can't change the world, we can influence our immediate environment. |
