CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, embraces a holistic approach to physical and spiritual well-being. Understanding Ch'i

In traditional Chinese philosophy, ch'i is the universal life force that governs well-being and personal vitality. For people to maintain good health, it is believed that ch'i must flow freely within the body.

Exercise, stretching, massage, hydrotherapy and movement of the mind through relaxation and meditation combine to assist the body's natural renewal, forming the basis of the Chi experience.
Recreation

Borneo is an island of enormous natural beauty. Beaches, jungle preserves, and parks can be found throughout Sabah.
Nature Reserve (Rasa Ria)  
Take the shuttle to our sister resort, Rasa Ria, where you'll find a unique 64-acre Nature Reserve featuring Sabah's icon, the Orang Utan. The Nature Reserve is aimed primarily at nature conservation and Orang Utan rehabilitation. The Rehabilitation Programme for Orang Utans which is carried out at the Nature Reserve is the only one of its kind on the west coast of the state of Sabah, with Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in Sandakan on the East Coast of the state being the main Orang Utan rehabilitation centre in the country.
The Reserve is also home to a wide spectrum of Sabah wildlife, such as two species of deer, long-tailed macaques, pheasants, civets, bear cat, masked musang, monitor lizard, water hens, porcupines, slow lorises, pangolins, pitcher plants, fruit bats and 63 species of birds.

Kids Club  

The Kids Club, open from 9am to 8pm, is one of the largest child care and play facilities in Malaysia. Guests entering the spacious Kids Club will immediately notice the beautifully hand-painted walls, featuring aquatic and land animals found only in Sabah. These engaging murals provide a comfortable, inviting atmosphere for both children and their parents.

The Kids Club is divided into five main areas:
  • The toddler section, complete with padded walls and soft toys for the safety and comfort of younger guests.
  • The area for children to register to become a member of the Kids Club.
  • The creativity area for children to develop painting, crafting and other skills.
  • The computer and TV room, which offers free computer usage, Internet access and PlayStations.
  • The coffee area, for parents to relax while their children are enjoying themselves.

Playground & Pool

The children’s playground is located next to the Tennis courts. It is equipped with swings, seesaws, slides, sand pit and a selection of toy cars and bikes.

The resort is also equipped with a covered, shallow wading pool ideal for small children.

Babysitting

The resort provides babysitting services for children aged four and above only when the Kids Club is not open. Priced at RM30 per hour, bookings are advised to be made at least one day in advance. Potties, cribs and necessary baby wares are also available.

Parents can drop their children off anytime of the day between the hours of 10am to 6pm and the resort’s professionally trained, English speaking staff will supervise and keep the children amused while parents relax in the sun or explore the sights of Sabah.

Connecting rooms are also available for parents and children, as well as the option of extra beds to allow the family to share one room.

Activities

All kinds of games and activities are organised at the Kids Club, some involving various arts and crafts and outdoor activities.

Beaches

The resort sits alongside an inviting stretch of sparkling South China Sea beaches, including Tanjung Aru Beach and Sunset Beach. The Sunset Bar offers cocktails from 5 - 8 pm each day.

    Health Club

    Our state-of-the-art Health Club features a selection of the latest fitness equipment and refreshing views of the gardens and the South China Sea. Professionally trained staff is on hand to assist you with your personal training programme.

    The Health Club also features six massage treatments rooms, a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam baths, as well as foot reflexology, massage and aromatherapy facilities perfect for rejuvenating tired muscles. Massage treatments can also be done in the relaxing Tanjung Garden or at the Gazebo beside the Leisure Centre.

    The Health Club, measuring 350 sq metres, is located at the Garden Level of the Kinabalu Wing. Swimwear and other athletic wear are available at the Hotel Shop on the Garden Level, Tanjung Wing.
