Calao. Franch word (borrowed from the Malay language) to designate the 'hornbill', a tropical bird of Asia and Africa with hornlike growth on its impressive beak. Chosen because it is the contraction of the two words Canada and Lao, Le Calao thus recalls the origins of the joint venture company owning the hotel.
