Mingle Place Hong Kong Hotel

Mingle Place is a 28-room hotel converted from an originally unimpressive staff quarter building. The building itself was boxy and pinky located in Observatory Lane. With its prime location adjacent to Knutsford Terrace, the famous Kowloon Lan Kwai Fong , we wanted to create a unique hotel with strong individuality, design, and colour right from the start. We wanted to create a place that the elite would want to see and experience.

We used a stainless steel tiled dressing to provide a new, precedent-setting, eye-catching outlook to the entire building. Internal walls were demolished to open up entire spaces, which were redesigned to accommodate 28 rooms of 4 different styles. Comparatively speaking, the rooms are a bit smaller than the traditional hotels, but we managed to ensure that even the smallest rooms are comfortable and imaginative living spaces.

The effect we wanted to create was a cozy and homely space with strong personality characterised by light woods, warm lighting ambience, sound-absorbing wall coverings, glassed closets and transparent light fittings that are just some of the touches that make each room unique.

Bathrooms remain open with frosted glass sliding doors for times when a semblance of privacy is required.

Another personal touch that makes the hotel feel not like any other is the ultra-high-tech intelligent technology thrown in by Intexact Technologies to make music, video, lighting, climate control, room service, TV and all electronic devices all converge in convenience at a touch of the finger. The mix of technology touch is subtle and sensibly controlled, only serving to enrich the whole environment and never intrusive. Intriguing while at the same time inviting, each room is a unique joy to stay in.

Being a constant traveller on the road, there is nothing I know better than hotels. But of all the hotels that I have ever stayed in, I simply cannot recall any specific hotel that leaves me with an unforgettable experience, while at the same time makes me feel like at home.

Not until I stayed in a small boutique hotel in Taiwan - where bell boys always knew me by name, told the taxi driver where I needed to go without any prompting on my part, and brought me a homemade cake when I came back hungry at midnight. I then realised what made a difference in a hotel - the personalised services.

You have a first taste of our technology right at the beginning, when making your reservation, for the hotel will also be registering your personal preferences for music, room temperature, lighting, and language. You do not queue up at the check-in counter, for the whole process is done on a Tablet PC. Of course, with your reservation number, you can also check yourself in at our self-check-in counter.

Register your fingerprint and your spectacular techotel experience starts. Simply enter your room by a press of your finger. You will be greeted by your room in your own language, and your desired room settings are all recalled automatically (temperature, lighting, and music etc.).

Inside your room, an immersive surround-sound audio system allows you to enjoy a full selection of music and movie entertainment from the hotel's comprehensive library. If you want to stick to your own collections, just plug your iPod or PC into an outlet on the wall and enjoy your own music through the same audiophile-grade sound system. Even when you take a shower, you can keep watching a large number of TV channels through our unique Bathroom TV right inside the shower stall.
