FEES AND MONETARY OBLIGATIONS
FOR PHOTOGRAPHING, FILMING, VIDEO TAPING PERMITS

Photographing | Filming - Video Taping | Fee Exceptions

A. PHOTOGRAPHING

- Photographing with a simple portable camera without flash in museums, archaeological sites and archaeological collections is free of charge.
-Photographing with a simple portable camera with flash in museums, archaeological sites,monuments and archaeological collections is not allowed.
-Photographing for commercial and/or advertising purposes without the inclusion of a person or persons, is allowed in monuments and archeological sites, Drs:50.000 per day.
-MUSEUMS and ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTIONS:
a.Without moving articles or opening show cases and without electrical power supply, Drs:2.000 per article.
b.Moving articles or opening of show cases without electrical power supply Drs:10.000 per article.
With electrical power supply, Drs:15.000 per article.

For commercial photographing,with the inclusion of a person or persons,in archaeological sites and monuments, Drs:100.000 per day for each site or monument.

B.FILMING - VIDEO TAPING

1.For documentaries/video tapes of educational or cultural content, with or, without narrator,in archaeological sites and monuments daily Drs:20.000 per site or monument. For museums and archaeological collections, Drs:15.000.
2a) However,for the following archaeological sites and monuments the fees are Drs:30.000 daily per site: Acropolis of Athens, Olympia, Delfi, Epidaurus, Delos, Corinth, Mystras, Mykines, Knossos, Festos.
2b) For the following museums the fees are Drs:20.000: Acropolis of Athens,National Archaeological, Byzantine & Christian, Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, Archaeological of Thessaloniki, Olympia, Delfi, Epidaurus, Delos, Corinth and Mystras.
Filming-video taping showing a person or a number of persons where the environment is used only as a background (and it is not the theme of filming-video taping): For archaeological sites and monuments Drs:100.000 daily per site or monument.For museums and archaeological collections Drs:100.000 per object.

Specifically,for the archaeological sites of Acropolis of Athens, Olympia, Delfi,Epidaurus, Delos, Corinth, Mystras, Mykines, Knossos and Festos Drs:150.000 daily per site.

For the museums of Acropolis of Athens, National Archaeological, Byzantine and Christian, Heraklion, Archaeological of Thessaloniki, Olympia, Delfi, Epidaurus, Delos, Corinth, Mystras Drs:130.000.

When filming-video taping does not include a person or persons then fees are reduced by 25%.

3.Filming for advertising purposes in archaeological sites and monuments Drs:500.000 daily per site or monument.
The scenario or text as well as director's instructions have to be submitted to the relevant Antiquities' Ephorates or museums prior to the issue of the permit.Under certain conditions related to the number of sites,museums or monuments, where filming takes place as well as the duration of filming and its commercial value - if any- the fees may be increased accordingly.

4.Video taping with amateur cameras (VHS 1/2inch.) is free of charge.

FEE EXCEPTIONS

A. PHOTOGRAPHING

-Photographing in certain cases is free of charge:
-Photographing of excavations and excavations' findings, when carried out by archaeologists or by the Institutions financing the excavations or by scholars for the purpose of study or publication.
-Photographing by scholars for educational purposes,support of original studies, publications etc.

FILMING - VIDEO TAPING
For the purpose of excavation documentation,restoration and other archaeological works, when carried out by the archaeologists themselves or the institutions financing excavation or scholars for the purpose of study or publication.

Filming-video taping carried out by International Organizations or foreign state instrumentalities, when the film -video tape is used for the promotion of Greece abroad.

PUBLICATION RIGHTS FOR PHOTOGRAPHS WITH ARCHAEOLOGICAL CONTENT FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES:
1.Fees per photograph for a publication and its subsequent editions in one country only:

a.Books of wide circulation (Encyclopaedias,dictionaries,guides,historical and archaeological books,books on art,etc.) Drs:10.000.
b.For commercial purposes Drs:200.000.
c.Use,as slides,for the promotion of commercial T.V. programmes Drs:100.000.
2.In case of publication in more than one country,the fee per photograph is increased ten times in each of the above three cases.

EXCEPTIONS:
a.For school or university publications and for educational purposes only.
b.For specialist publications by Greek or foreign scholars and for periodical publications, even if brought out by non specialist institutions (Greek or foreign),but they are meant for specialist in order to facilitate research.
c.Transparencies used in educational programmes of the Greek Govt.T.V.networks or those of the European Union,for the encouragement of the production of such programmes.
NOTE: Payment of fees, when fees are due in the cases stated above- should be made at the BANK OF GREECE in favour of «Archaeological Receipts Fund» (Tap Service) Acc.No. 026786/4 in Athens.

In provincial towns,payments should be made at the local NATIONAL BANK OF GREECE Branch in credit of the «Archaeological Receipts Fund» (Tap Service) Acc.No.026786/4 of the BANK OF GREECE.
