| Recreational pastimes in France are similar to some European countries yet it has some unique aspects. Horseracing has long been the pastime of kings and is enjoyed by the masses today. There are fine steeplechase and horse race tracts, the famous Hippodromes of Paris, and most spots have an excellent vantage point. “Boules,” the game of rolling a small metal ball toward an object (“jack”), is enjoyed by the general population.
