Festival de l' Imaginaire
March 08, 2002 - April 15, 2002
Paris, France

The festival concentrates the efforts of several institutions from Paris, the Paris area, and Europe in the field of world cultures. As an open stage for people and their most precious or least-known forms of expression, the Festival de l'Imaginaire has defined its programming policy in terms of exploration, discovery and revelation, and hopes to keep on arousing the spectator's curiosity.

Whether academic or folk, traditional or contemporary, minimalist or sophisticated, the various events of the festival are performed for the most part for the first time in France. A few of the events involve return performances, after an absence of a few years, either to satisfy a new generation of spectators or to discover new talents. Thus during the festival, grand masters of the tradition perform side by side with young artists who attempt to enrich and renew what are sometimes very old art forms.

The Festival de l'imaginaire makes room for reflection as well. Colloquia, round tables and conference and demonstrations, on cultural themes or on phenomena from within societies, are also events which make new landmarks possible, enlarging our vision of the world.
