The Tides Boracay is wonderful. It is sleek, clean, young and modern. This boutique hotel is perfect for yuppies just like myself. I got the essential room which was ideal as I was staying there all by myself. The queen bed was just right and the sheets were clean. I love the overall look of the room. It was very modern with great lighting. The TV remote wasn't working perfectly but I didn't mind since I didn't really watch TV much. Hello, it's a vacation! The AC was very quiet and cooled the room quickly. I loved the rainshower and the toilet bidet! The bathroom is quite spacious. It's very clean. But as mentioned in previous reviews, the water tends to gather at the base of the toilet. But it's a minor problem especially since housekeeping cleans it up each day. I just wish there's a hook or something at the back of the bathroom door to hang clothes on. The water pressure was very strong which is probably because my room was on the ground level. The Tides' roof deck was breathtaking. This part of the hotel is captivating whether in the daylight or during the evening when the whole place transforms into a lovely al fresco dining area. The pool was clean and well maintained. Towels are always available and the cushioned lounge chairs are great for sun bathing. There's nothing like having a mojito (happy hour!) while relaxing poolside with a view of the majestic Boracay sunset. My reservation included breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised that it was buffet style. I'd skip the pastries but the rest was fine. The fresh fruits and juices were really good. In terms of service, I'd say most of the hotel staff are well trained. They're very courteous and polite especially the ladies at the front desk. There's no in-room Internet access but my room was close enough to the lobby that my computer was able to connect to the hotel Internet. I got really lucky I guess. I also didn't have issues about any noise by the way. The thing is, the hotel is right in the middle of everything so if you want somewhere more serene, then this may not be your most ideal choice. If you're keen about the little details, you may notice the flawed paint job on some parts of the room---like the vanity. You may also complain about the 1 towel per day, per person limit that they have. But these things personally didn't bother me so much. Other things I love about this property are the prompt room service and housekeeping attention, and the way the entire place is kept clean and orderly. The location is also great as it is right smack in the middle of D'Mall. Whenever I went tanning, I'd just take the barely-a-minute walk to the beach and settle in front of Hey Jude or go somewhere farther in station 1 for a quieter session of sun worshipping under coconut trees, preferably with a bottle of fruitshake from Jonah's at the side. I'd definitely recommend The Tides and would gladly stay there again.
