Rui Jin Guesthouse hotel is located in central Shanghai on the old French Concession near Huai Hai Road. The hotel is housed on the former Morriss family estate and comprises several villas and a vast garden. The Morriss - founder of North-China Daily News - bought the estate in early 1920s and established their family compound. The hotel has gone through the "cultural revolution" but was spared as it was one of the base of communist army. After that, the hotel was used as guest house by senior chinese leaders. In 1980s, it was opened to the public. The hotel has a proud history and attracted European and Japanese visitors wanting to experience a piece of Shanghai history.It was renovated in 1999.
