The
rainforest trek begins with a slow climb up and down hill through tropical
primary low land rainforest. An initial stop will made at base camp for
a short introduction to jungle safety before trekking deeper into the
dense rainforest. Your experienced jungle guide will explain to you the
differences between various types of rainforest, the habitat and ecology
of the different of flora and fauna endemic to Brunei and an insight
into the various traditional herbs used by the local community as traditional
medicine. A local lunch will be served in the traditional leaf platter
call Kukup leaf. Depending on fruit availability and fruiting season,
guests may have the chance to test local Bruneian fruits, which grow
wildly in the rainforest. The trek will continue through fresh water
swamp forest following animal trails. Guests should be aware that there
are no clearly defined trails in this area and that some places may be
muddy, wet and slippery.
On the return trek guests will be given the opportunity to lead the group
to the starting point. The objective being to let people experience path
finding for them selves and to become confident in their own ability
in the confusing environment of the dense forest. |
