Temburong
District is considered to have the most pristine Rainforest in Brunei. Nested
near the centre of Temburong lies a small village of approximately 30 houses
comprising of Muruts and Ibans. It is from here that we start our trek.
Crossing a river, we trek trough padi fields into a primary forest. As you
walk along, you will notice the change from primary to secondary forest.
The vegetation can be so thick that when you look up, you only get to see
the overflowing tree canopies. The forest echoes with the chirping of birds,
croaking of lizards and the occasional howl of monkeys and hornbills.Day
1 ,you will trek for approximately 4 hours and Day 2,you will trek for 6
hours. Extension nights are recommended especially for bird watchers and
nature lovers. Activities for the trek include learning how to fish local
style, looking for jungle vegetables and fruits, night trek to look for
wildlife. It's a must for those who wants to experience jungle survival
the local way. |
